Shaping Eyebrows

As a beauty professional, it’s your responsibility to bring out the best in your clients’ natural features and highlight their beauty. One of the most important techniques for defining and enhancing the face is eyebrow design. Well-shaped eyebrows not only add expression and definition but can also visually lift and rejuvenate the face. In this guide, we’ll discuss the art of eyebrow design and key techniques for measuring and shaping.

1. Measuring Your Eyebrows:
   Before we begin the actual design process, it’s crucial to determine the correct proportions of your eyebrows. Here are the steps to measure your eyebrows quickly and precisely:
   
   (a) Start of the eyebrow: First, locate the center of the bridge of your nose. The inner corner of your eye and the wing of your nose should form a straight line. 
   (b) Highest point of your eyebrow (apex): This point lies on the line between the wing of your nose and your pupil.
   (c) End of your eyebrow: The line from the nostril to the outer corner of your eye defines the end of your eyebrow.
   
   
2. Checking the proportions:
   After measuring the basic points, check the proportions of the eyebrows using the tried-and-true 2:1 measurement method:
   - Divide the eyebrow into three sections: The body of the eyebrow should be twice as long (2/3) as the tail (1/3).
   - Determine the distance from the eye to the arch of the eyebrow. The fixed eyelid should be twice as long (2/3) as the movable eyelid (1/3).
   
   
3. Correct width:
   The width of your eyebrow should be approximately half the width of your iris.

Use an eyebrow brush to comb the hairs into shape before you start plucking. Pluck your eyebrows in the direction of hair growth to avoid irritation and achieve a natural look.
