Why aren't the lifting results as pronounced for some customers?
Why do some clients no longer see such dramatic results from their eyelash lift?
Every eyelash has a muscle. If this muscle has never been exercised—for example, by mascara—it is flaccid. During the first treatment, we can achieve more curl for these clients because the flaccid muscle yields to the lift.
You often hear that the results are even more pronounced the next day. This is because, after being stretched by the lifting process, the muscle contracts, and the eyelashes are now fixed in the direction we lifted them.
During the lift, your eyelash muscle is activated and begins to strengthen.
You might think that another eyelash lift isn’t necessary anymore. The muscles are now strengthened, and the eyelashes should stay in the lifted position. Unfortunately, the strengthening of the muscles isn’t permanent. Without the necessary exertion or stimulation, the muscles at the base of the eyelashes also weaken. Additionally, gravity causes the eyelashes to droop.
Let’s take as an example two treatments with an S-Pad, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The S-Pad provides the strongest effect. The muscles at the base of the eyelashes are so strengthened that they no longer give way during the third lifting session, and the eyelashes can no longer be lifted as much as during the first two sessions. Although the eyelashes are curled by the lotions, the base can no longer be shaped as strongly.
This doesn’t necessarily mean you did something wrong during the treatment or that your lotions have lost their potency. With the S-Pad, you’ve likely strengthened the muscles to the point where they simply won’t give way anymore.
For lash lifts using the S-Pad, you should therefore plan for a longer interval between sessions. Instead of a 4–6-week interval, opt for a longer one so that the muscle can relax again and you can achieve the desired “wow” result.
Who would have thought that relaxed muscles would be desirable? :)
