What should I keep in mind before my eyelash appointment?
Whether this is a refill appointment or an initial fitting appointment.
We’ve put together a few points for you that you’ll surely find very interesting:
- Contact Lenses: If possible, contact lens wearers should switch to glasses on the day of your appointment. If that’s not possible, please bring a case and the appropriate solution to your appointment so you can safely store your contact lenses during the appointment.
- Come without makeup: It’s best not to wear any makeup around your eyes on this day.
- Removing Makeup: However, if that’s not possible and you don’t want to go without makeup on this day, you should thoroughly remove your makeup before your appointment—at least around the eye area. Please do not use oil-based products to remove your makeup. This can cause your eyelashes to not hold well afterward. Why should you come without makeup? Your stylist has limited time, and the time reserved for you shouldn’t be wasted on a time-consuming makeup removal process. That time can then be used to apply more eyelashes.
- No waterproof mascara: Basically, you no longer need mascara. We recommend that you stay away from mascara entirely. Mascara contains oils and silicones, which reduce the longevity of your extensions and also cause everything to stick together unattractively. But if you do decide to use mascara, please don’t use waterproof mascara. That’s because you’ll need an oil-based makeup remover to take it off, and that’s toxic to the adhesive bonds of your eyelash extensions.
- Creams: As a general rule, you should avoid using any oil-based or greasy creams around your eyes. Use gels instead. But please avoid applying an eye gel or eye cream immediately before your appointment. We want to ensure that the eyelash extensions last as long as possible—ideally until your natural lashes shed.

Surgical Procedures: Any surgeries around the eye area—such as a blepharoplasty—should have taken place at least 6 months ago.
If you have surgery scheduled soon—even if it’s not near the eye area—you should inform your stylist and possibly reschedule your touch-up appointment for after that date.
Why?
a) During general anesthesia, it’s quite possible that the eyelids will be taped shut to prevent the eyes from remaining open during surgery and potentially drying out. When the tape is removed, eyelashes may be pulled out along with it.
b) Anesthesia can also affect how long the extensions last. - PMU - Eyeliner: If you’re scheduling an appointment for permanent eyeliner, you shouldn’t be wearing eyelash extensions, as they may interfere with the pigment specialist’s work. After all, we want a beautiful PMU result. And your eyelash stylist cannot apply eyelash extensions if you have a fresh PMU eyeliner. Please inform both professionals and coordinate your appointments according to their recommendations.
- Pregnancy: There are no studies on eyelash extensions during pregnancy. Everything may go well, but there’s no guarantee, and we should protect the unborn child. If you don’t want to go without your eyelash extensions during pregnancy, you should definitely discuss this with your OB/GYN and bring a statement of clearance from your doctor to your stylist.

Punctuality: Please arrive 5 minutes early and do not be late for your appointment.
If you arrive much earlier than just 5 minutes, we’d like to ask you to go for a walk, for example.
Why?
Your stylist plans appointments carefully and needs time between clients to prepare the room again: cleaning, disinfecting, airing out, and redecorating.
If you arrive much too early and there’s still a client on the treatment table, your stylist may have to unlock the door. This means hygiene measures must be repeated: washing hands, disinfecting, etc. This time is then deducted from the current client’s appointment.
If you’re late, your stylist can’t extend the appointment time, because the next client—who is counting on the stylist’s punctuality—may be coming right after you.
(Quick note: If you’re unable to make your appointment, please cancel it in a timely manner—at least 48 hours in advance.) - New Clients: If you’re a new client, your stylist has set aside extra time for the consultation. Why not send your eyelash studio a recent photo of your eyelashes in advance? That way, your stylist can prepare a little for the appointment.
- Accompanying Guests: Please do not bring anyone with you to the appointment—no friends, no partners, and no children. Your stylist needs absolute quiet and concentration, and you should use the time during your eyelash extension session to relax.
- Your Cell Phone: You should put your cell phone on silent and leave it in your purse. You won’t be able to read messages or make calls during the eyelash extension procedure. You’ll need to lie completely still so your lash stylist can apply the extensions correctly.
- What else should you keep in mind? Before we begin, you should use the restroom one last time. It’s nearly impossible to get up during the procedure, as this would cause the eye pads—on which your stylist has marked your lash mapping—to shift. This would result in valuable application time being lost.
