Store Eyelash Glue Properly and Save Money

In the eyelash industry, it’s essential to know how to properly store your eyelash adhesive to ensure it performs as expected throughout its entire lifespan without any noticeable decline in performance.

It’s important to understand how to maximize your adhesive’s shelf life to reduce the cost of your eyelash supplies. No one likes to buy more adhesive than they have to, especially when you could keep that money in your pocket instead!

Storing Eyelash Adhesive Properly

This article covers how to store your eyelash glue to maximize its shelf life and performance, how to keep track of when you need to buy a new bottle, and how to prevent your eyelash glue bottle from clumping.

How long does my eyelash glue last?

There are many different claims about how long professional eyelash glues last. While there are some differences in the formulations of eyelash glues produced by different companies, the main ingredients remain the same, and this also applies to the shelf life of these products.

Generally, eyelash glue has a shelf life of about 8 months after production. However, this can be extended by a few months if it’s stored unopened in the refrigerator.

Once opened, the eyelash adhesive will last about 3 months if stored and used properly. The adhesive’s performance will diminish over time.

The key point is that the clock starts ticking once the manufacturing process is complete. Some eyelash companies may only order eyelash glue once a quarter to restock their inventory. If you buy a bottle before the eyelash company receives its restock, you may end up with an adhesive that has been sitting in a warehouse for more than 3 months, thereby shortening its shelf life—even unopened—to less than 5 months.

How should I store my adhesive?

UNOPENED BOTTLES
As mentioned earlier, the shelf life of unopened bottles from CFB Cosmetics is approximately 8 months after manufacture. If you don’t plan to use it for an extended period, you should store it sealed in the aluminum pouch to prevent air or moisture from entering the bottle. Store it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.

To extend the shelf life of an unopened bottle of adhesive by another 2 or even 3 months, you can store the unopened adhesive in its aluminum pouch in the refrigerator. This slows down the natural aging of the ingredients—similar to how you store food.

If you store your unopened glue in the refrigerator, it’s REALLY important to take it out at least 24 hours before use so it can warm up to room temperature. This prevents condensation from forming inside the bottle—condensation causes the glue to harden!

OPENED BOTTLES
First things first: Do not store your eyelash glue in the refrigerator! As mentioned above, condensation will form inside the bottle and the glue will become unusable!

Opened bottles should be tightly sealed and stored upright in a cool, dry place. If possible, store the glue in the aluminum pouch with the silica gel to prevent excessive moisture from entering the bottle.

Of course, you should keep all glue bottles out of the reach of children!

And remember to shake the glue well before using it! This ensures that every drop contains the correct mixture of ingredients. If you don’t shake the glue, it may come out too concentrated and not black (The pigment separates from the cyanoacrylate and settles at the bottom of the bottle). If, when dispensing a drop, you notice that the glue is a watery gray rather than deep black, it hasn’t been shaken well enough.

How do I know when I need a new tube of glue?

It’s actually quite simple. Just write on the bottle or the aluminum pouch when you opened your glue and note the expiration date.

If you don’t write down these dates, you’re taking a big risk. You’ll probably realize far too late that you need new eyelash glue. And you might have to turn away customers while you wait for your order to arrive.

So, always order the adhesive in plenty of time so you don’t lose any clients.
