Difference between nanoblading and microblading

As perfect eyebrows became increasingly the focus of the beauty industry, microblading came at just the right time: Eyebrows could be optimized with the help of the latest technology. Now, however, there is an even more sophisticated method of making eyebrows look perfect and natural at the same time: nanoblading. Today we explain the differences and advantages of both methods.

What is microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent technique in which a manually operated pigmentation device is used to give the eyebrows more fullness and, if desired, more color intensity. The small blades carve fine lines into the skin. These are then filled in with the appropriate color pigments to create the perfect eyebrow, which has been properly sculpted beforehand. Microblading was invented in Japan and quickly spread around the world, as everyone wanted to benefit from this new technology. It is based on permanent make-up and is a non-invasive solution for anyone who wants perfect eyebrows.

What is nanoblading?

Nanoblading is the next generation of eyebrow correction and is related to microblading. This technology also involves carving missing eyebrow hairs into the skin, but the brow expert uses a device that resembles a tattoo needle and only has a single, very fine needle.
The needle is very sharp and thin, with a diameter of just 0.18 millimetres, which is equivalent to an eyebrow hair. This gives nanoblading maximum natural strokes, which are perceived as eyebrow hairs. Real hairs and applied eyebrow hairs can hardly be distinguished from each other. This method also only affects the upper layer of the skin, so the needle does not reach the dermis as it would with a tattoo.

Advantages of microblading and nanoblading

The advantages of microblading are that it is a non-invasive treatment that is also painless and long-lasting. The result is natural and offers a 3D effect.
The advantages of nanoblading also lie in the non-invasive treatment. It is accurate and can hardly be distinguished from the natural eyebrow. This method makes corrections easier and is also permanent.

Good reasons to have nanoblading or microblading treatment carried out

Both methods have a few things in common, which are reflected in the reasons. Both microblading and nanoblading are suitable when there are gaps in eyebrow growth. These gaps can be filled in using both technologies. If there is asymmetry, this can also be corrected. Bald patches no longer have a chance of being seen. Even if hair loss occurs due to various illnesses, both methods can ensure a satisfactory result. A lack of color intensity is compensated for and enhanced by both nanoblading and microblading, and the eyes become visually more expressive. Possible scars in the eyebrow can also be concealed.

Differences between nanoblading and microblading

A microblading treatment lasts one to two years and costs around 250-350 euros. After the initial treatment, 1-2 follow-up treatments are necessary every four to six weeks. The treatment takes around two hours and involves manual pigmentation with a pigmentation pen and a needle fan.
A nanoblading treatment lasts up to 4 years and costs between 350 and 500 euros. After the initial treatment, follow-up treatments are necessary every four to six weeks. The treatment takes between four and six hours, including the pre-treatment. The equipment used is a pigmentation device that resembles a tattoo needle.

Conclusion nanoblading vs. microblading

Both methods take eyebrow modeling to a new level, although nanoblading is newer and more modern and has proven to be a more precise technology. On the other hand, microblading is less time-consuming and also costs less, whereas the durability of nanoblading is almost twice as long. As microblading is done manually, it is possible to add more volume or different shades by using different hand movements. Ultimately, however, both methods are suitable for making eyebrows appear perfect.
The most important thing is not so much the method chosen, as both have their advantages, but rather the choice of the right beauty studio. Because only with the necessary training and expertise can the result really be seen for several years without complications, skin damage or optical defects.
