Difference Between an Eyelash Perm and a Lash Lift

To a layperson, an eyelash perm might sound exactly like a lash lift at first, but they are two different treatments. That’s why we’re dedicating today’s blog post to the differences between an eyelash perm and a lash lift.

What is an eyelash perm?

An eyelash perm gives your natural lashes a beautiful curl. This is achieved during the treatment at the lash studio using an eyelash roller and special lotions that create that beautiful curve. The advantage: You’ll never need an eyelash curler again. Essentially, an eyelash perm can be compared to a perm for your hair.
This treatment takes about 30 to 40 minutes. The results of an eyelash perm last between four and six weeks. The cost is lower than that of a lash lift. Since no additional lashes are applied during an eyelash perm, there are no special home care instructions to follow, so you can stick to your usual routine.

What is a lash lift?

After a lash lift, you also no longer need an eyelash curler, as the curled lashes automatically make your eyes appear larger and more vibrant. Although the result looks just as natural as with a lash perm, a lash lift is more intense.

Eyelash Perms and Lash Lifts: The Similarities

As you can see, although a lash perm and a lash lift are two different types of treatments, they do share some similarities. Both methods are gentle on your natural lashes and eliminate the need for an eyelash curler. The results are natural in both cases. As your natural lashes regrow, the effect of the treatment simply becomes slightly less pronounced. There are no gaps, unlike after eyelash extensions. Disadvantages of Eyelash Perms and Eyelash Lifts

The only drawback is that the treatments must be repeated at regular intervals if you want to maintain the results over time. It’s also important to note that both methods are performed on your natural lashes, so increasing lash density isn’t possible. Furthermore, the “lengthening” effect created by the curl is limited by the natural length of your own lashes. If you want more length, you’ll need to resort to eyelash extensions or false eyelashes.
